The Racial Equity Accelerated Learning (R.E.A.L) Program

Mr. Bruce Moody stands as a beacon of hope and resilience. As a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Army, Moody attributes his success not only to his own perseverance, but also to the unwavering support of teachers, family, and community. Having experienced firsthand the transformative power of education, Mr. Moody is committed to his mission of making a positive difference in the lives of scholars. The Racial Equity Accelerated Learning (REAL) Program confronts the urgent issue of learning loss by providing 30+ hours of customized, High Impact Tutoring (HIT) to low-income students in grades 4-8. Thirty (30) hours of tutoring instruction has a price value of ~$1,700+ per student, but thanks to grant sourcing, underserved communities will receive the academic help they need at no cost! 

Through grant funded programs, we are able to offer free tutoring to over two-hundred local students throughout Washington, D.C. and Brunswick, Georgia. The REAL Program has become a lifeline amidst the educational setbacks, partially caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, it's more than just about academics. It's about breaking down barriers and providing every child, regardless of background, with the opportunity to succeed. With a mix of resolve and empathy, the REAL program offers more than just tutoring; it offers a path to a brighter future. 

Through tailored instruction and unwavering support, these students not only learn but thrive. As the students assemble, determination and hope radiate from their faces. Guided by passionate educators, they embark on a journey of growth and empowerment.

Reflecting on his own path from a Head Start student to a Lieutenant Colonel and successful business owner, Moody sees his story mirrored in the eager faces before him.  "If it were not for my family enrolling me in a Head Start program as a child, I would not have received the educational foundation I needed to be successful. If it were not for others first helping me, I would not be here today" Moody states. 

The REAL program isn't just about bridging the achievement gap; it's about reshaping destinies and empowering the lives of scholars. With each tutoring session and every milestone achieved, these students reclaim their futures. In the face of adversity, the power of community shines brightest. Through the REAL program, the Bright Minds Team isn't just helping students overcome challenges – it's paving the way for a brighter, more equitable tomorrow.
